I am the Training Manager for Camden Haven Community College and program coordinator for Taree, Forster and Laurieton areas specialising in Aged Care, Disability and Home and Community qualifications.
I have been a qualified trainer and assessor since 2006. I am a business owner and a business partner in designing and developing contexualised training resources.
My passion is focused on delivering quality training and assessment to those disadvantaged in our community.
I have been a Registered Nurse for 35yrs and an educator for the past 12yrs.
I am passionate about providing quality care for the elderly. I enjoy sharing knowledge and experiences with our students and feel it is a privilege to guide them through their studies. I feel immense pride when they gain employment in the Aged Care industry.
In my private time I enjoy anything to do with art and craft.
I have been working in the Aged Care industry for 11 years, and have been working as a trainer and assessor for Camden Haven Community College for 5 years.
I am extremely passionate about Aged Care ensuring I advocate high quality care for the industry through teaching best practices and optimal quality individualised care. Working in aged, community and disability services is a highly rewarding career.
Educating others has been such a humbling process, guiding them to build new skills and careers in these specialised services.
I have worked as an Aged Care trainer with Camden Haven Community College now for 3 years.
I have over 40 years nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, the last 13 years of those being in the aged care sector.
I very much enjoy training and imparting my knowledge and experience to the next generation of aged care workers.
I joined the training team at Camden Haven Community College, in 2020 as a Vocational Education and Training (VET) trainer and assessor and I have been teaching subjects in the Certificate III & Certificate IV Aged Care courses.
I did my Registered Nurse and Midwifery training in Ireland and immigrated with my husband and young son to Westmead Hospital in Sydney in 1988 where I worked in roles such as, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nursing Unit Manager and a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Respiratory Medicine until we moved to Taree in 1991 along with our family of three . We moved to the Manning Valley to take advantage of the country environment and lifestyle.
Over the years I have completed many Health and Aged Care related courses including a Bachelor of Health Management at Charles Sturt University Bathurst. I completed this whilst working full time as a Director of Care and helping my husband raise three great children so you could say , the pursuit of learning has always been part and parcel of my life.
In 2020 after retiring from a very busy and Award winning 29 year career in Aged Care with a local Community based organization I felt I wanted to give something back to my 44 years in Nursing by sharing my passion for the profession and what better way to do that, then helping people achieve their dream of becoming an Aged Care Nurse.
I love the local area, it has a slower pace and one that I can now make the most of with my family and grandchildren. Pre COVID I had plans to take on some hobbies such a dragon boat racing , and I intend to give it a go as soon as were allowed to do so.
I have been employed at Camden Haven Community College since August 2019 as a trainer and assessor in Aged Care.
I have extensive knowledge and experience in the Aged Care sector and am also currently employed with a service provider delivering home care packages to the elderly so they can stay in their own homes as long as possible.
I am passionate about education and working in an industry that enables people of all ages and backgrounds to obtain qualifications which they will have for life.
